Basically, I have also missed this lecture.
Throughout my research, I could understand Contextual studies is for those
parts of the art and design curriculum that embrace art history, aesthetic
theories and the social, economical, political, religious and numerous other
contexts within which the practice of art and design, exists, develops and
fulfills its purposes. It is an art that not only worth for 10 sen or else. It is
an art that can worth for thousand or million bucks.
In short, it is the
understanding of within the programmer of study for art that covers and focuses
on the theoretical aspect of art in all its forms. Here, I found that student
often have difficult time to understand the concept of certain art due to
different culture or learning lifestyle. Not only learn about the art itself, but also
about things involved such as the time in which it was created. I may also
cover the theories of Art and Design, examining the political and social
influences that provide the backdrop to artistic production, and investigate
the tools, materials and techniques used in that production.
Every design happens with a story behind. It may not be important or interesting, yet it contains certain reason for itself. It is not also a must for it to happen; it could be natural or anything else. Just that, we must or we do need to pay for more 10% attention for it. Trying to understand every single thing that happens around us everyday; study its culture and history behind.
