Week 18 - Interview and Towards Final Editing

This were all actually done my self-taught Miss Lisa.
I was kind of surprised that Miss Lisa done so much of little stuffs.
All of the questions marks that actually fly through my mind.
What am I like the most was the little lamp. I couldn't imagine how did Miss Lisa idea came from ..
I was really fall for it.
Another one is her dooddle. I was really fall for it as well.
If I wouldn't know it is by Miss Lisa, I would have thought that must be a printing by computer then.

Here are the questions that I came out with.

- What made you become a designer?

- What are the challenges you have faced and how did you over come them?

- Can a self taught designer make it in the design industry in Malaysia? Is there any possibility that it will be be accepted in this society ?

- Where do you get your inspiration?

- What qualities do you need to succeed and what you value most from other people?

Let's come back to the editing part.

I was kind of stress on editing due to the apps and I have no any confidence on my editing..
yet , due to i follow what my leader have taught me and I had shown it to her. She actually felt happy with it.
I was seriously surprised with it.
By then , she correct some of my grammar mistake and guild me what will be the next step.

Week 17 - Email and Replied

As the two artist taht I had mentioned on the previous blog post, I have actually emailed them.

For Graphic Designer ( Ong Poh Jin )

I have got some reply from him, But, Unfortunately due to time clash, we could make it for interview him. He was kind of fine with it as well and he did said that if we have second chance, he is welcome us for have an interview with him.

For  Contemporary Mythology Art Designer. ( Caitlin Hackett )

Unfortunately, as what I expected that she did not reply me. For my own point of view that maybe is she did not received the email or she does not feel comfortable with has an interview.

As soon I told my group leader, and well she claim and cheer me up due to I really wanted to interview Caitlin Hackett then.

Soon, I came out with an idea that why not we interview Miss Lisa then? She is our course lecture for Principle of Design and 2-Dimensional design. I suggested her is because of she is a self taught designer. I am kind of admired her from the day I knew she is a self taught designer. My group leader agreed with me for interview her.

I have started the editing part first is Jialun Part. I couldnt able to do it fast due to it is a new apps for me. But, it is going fine after hourssss.

Heh, I was kind of sign of release that I had now live better than the previous group then.

Wei Yi does explain to me what has been gone through in her group.
Basically they have interviewed 2 artist which is Ng Thiam Joo and Asghar Yaghoubi.

Wei Yi , which is my group leader, she asked me to look for some of the artist and have an interview.

Here are my list of artist that I would like to interview them if i can.

She is the artist that I want to interview the most because she is one of the designer that I admired the most. She done quite lot of hybrid stuff which is what I was doing always.

Week 15 - Misunderstanding

For this time , I did not actually know that I been back stabbed by my class rep which is Dayana. She used to asked we all not to back stabbed other in our English class, who knows.. Now she is the one who started to back stabbed others.

She actually went up and meet Mr. Charles and told him that I did actually do nothing for the group project. Yet, she did not even know the through that Cong and I actually went up to Nick and Jien Li asked for quite lot of times that what do we need to do for Contextual Studies. For me , personal, I did actually went to Nick and Jien Li the less around 10 times that "Anything that I need to do, What can I do and What should I do for contextual Studies? I do want that at the end of the assignment that I be said that I did not do anything for this assignment."

So basically, everything started get worst when I could not find the microphone that we need for the interview. I was kind of shocked after I knew this.

I was supposed to search for a microphone which cost around RM100. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the one that my teammate want and for Dayana's group, her group-mate went to Subang Prade which I went before and he found it. It is only cost RM20. Nick and I were dispute.

Mr. Charles asked us to clear everything up (The misunderstanding). He asked me to talk to my leader. That time on wards, I just knew that Nick was actually my leader. For so long time, I always dealing with Jien Li. She was the one who told me what was happening before. After I said "I did not know that Nick was my leader", he burned. He started to pour every things out that not actually related to contextual studies to me. And, for my point of view, I did actually can feel that he is blaming on me that I could found that. In between of argument, I found that Jien Li actually did not tell the truth that I had called her when I was in the shopping mall which was when I found the microphone.

Second,I actually whatapps and face to face asked what can I do, where their answer are always "No worries, If anything help then I will tell you." Nick started to scold me that I asked him that was long time ago. But, he did not even know that only like 1 week passed, I asked Jien Li anything that I need to do for contextual studies? And she replied "Not yet, wait me finish reading for the essay first."

In the argument, he was blaming that I did not send those video and pictures to him. He did not proper tell that he and Jien Li are going to edit the video. For what I knew, I thought was we all edit it together.

One more was the worst was I found that I did likely went and ask some questions from Mr. Ernesto and that did not inform me at all. It was like some kind of interview. I actually felt left out then. but basically that was, they are always discuss stuff among themselves. did not actually care about others or get our opinion.

After that I went and have an appointment with Mr. Charles and tell and ask for all or the truth.

Okay, done with that, I do not feel to talk much bad about them.

So, I have decided to jump out from that group and go into Wei Yi's group.

I now feel better to work with her more than with them. She knows how to arrange everything for each so that each one gets things to work on.

Week 13 - Documentary Process ( Part 4 )

Artist Statement
Art equals personal taste. Simple. Period. It can be likened to a book where the beginning represents the artist’s creative process and the end represents the collector’s decision. Interestingly it is not that simple, because one must read the whole book to know the eventual outcome, although it all depends on the basic principle of ‘to give and take’. As one piece of art goes through the lengthy process of creation and later begins the ‘search’ for its new master, it will face the multiple tests of competition, criticism, acknowledgment and possibly even rejection. Art circles can sometimes be cruel. Sincerity, confidence, firm, proper guidance and luck play important roles in defining this amazing journey!

I compare my life to a piece of art. I came into this world naked, as if a piece of pure white canvas stretched onto a frame. As I grew, the sketches started to mark out their territories. Then came along the brushes and pallet knives with various colours ready to turn me into a masterpiece! As time progresses, this piece of art will be continuously appraised and criticized by the creator and passers-by. No one can really tell how good a painting is, until the artist finally signs his creation and puts it on display. But the interesting fact is that in life (and even in death) both the creator and the art piece will forever be linked together.

Art is probably the world’s hardest profession. In the business world, there are black and white areas, right and wrong. In the art world, there are no rules. Many so-called artists will take advantage of this ‘grey area’ and often hit below the belt. As art depends on personal interpretation, it is for the beholder to judge. Art is nothing sacred and in many ways hard to comprehend, especially for those with limited knowledge about it. To put it very simply, art is just another example of supply and demand. It is not just about a single painting hanging on a wall demanding a value be placed on it! It is all about the life of the creator – the artist. Right from the very first thought that an artist has, to the development of an idea, till it becomes the very last drop of paint the artist brushes on to the canvas – art and artist are inseparable. This is my art, this is my life.

Principle in art:

Art started as a form of communication thousands of years ago. Hitherto art is still considered very much a form of communication but emphasizing more on the idea and concept that an artist as a creator wants to deliver. Chng believes that his work of art should be from the heart and not from public pressure. The basic principle of an artist is to create, a gallery to promote, a critic to criticize and a collector to collect should be abide. This chain should be respected for a simple reason to enable an artist to focus on his creativity. Creativity comes from the exposure of an artist movement in life either near or far. With movement comes experience, with experience combining with one’s philosophy, then only one can create a unique yet impressive piece of art. An artist should never sell his soul and bow to public pressure. For artists that have chosen to only paint as directed, they should be considered commercial art processors. Professional painters should present genuine creativity.

Week 12 - Documentary Process ( Part 3 )

For this time , we did not actually set up any discussion for discuss about this projects' progress, due to having kind of much of assignments and issues, yet I did went to Jien Li and asked her anything that should I help up for the documentary process ? Any research that I need to do ?
She was actually kind of busy as well with all of the assignments. So, still remain the same that and she told me "no worries, if anything need to do that she will let me know." She did tell me to wait for her to finish reading some unknown articles text that she needs to read through for the documentary.

Therefore, for this week we all were actually did not do anything much on this then. I still continue on my research on Mr.Ch'ng. =/
